Golf's Last Secret Finally Revealed
We golfers know the fundamentals don't we? It's just that we tend to neglect them. There are a slight variations on Grip, Alignment, Stance and Posture but those are the basics and if we stuck to them we wouldn't go far wrong.
The trouble is that we don't stick to them, golf is pretty simple really, like dieting if we used up more calories that we took in we'd lose weight, golf is the same if we stuck to the basics we'd all play better.
So if I told you that a new fundamental had been discovered what would you do? Leap up and down with excitement, roll your eyes or head for the hills? Ha! I knew it wouldn't be the first one :-)
Well there has been a new fundamental discovered but the good news is that it's simple to understand, simple to implement and the results are startling.
Let me explain. Ordinary golfers have long been in thrall to the effortless power that the pros have in their swing, Ernie Els is probably the best example of this, and think that by swinging slowly they can achieve that delicate balance between accuracy and distance that comes with having a
good tempo. The problem is that most handicap players trade off one for the other.
Now though you can have both accuracy and distance.
Some years ago John Novosel, a very keen amateur golfer, was studying a film of LPGA Tour player Jan Stephenson's swing frame by frame and noticed something interesting; that her backswing took 27 frames and her downswing 9 frames. A ratio of 3:1. This lead Novosel to go on and analyse the swings of hundreds of professional golfers and he found that whilst they had differing swing speeds they were all in the same ratio of 3:1, i.e they had the same tempo.
This remarkable chance discovery lead him to develop the Tour Tempo system which is available as a book and CD. It's a fascinating read and shows how you can improve the distance and accuracy of your golf shots by swinging with Tour Tempo and is very easy to incorporate into your game and shows almost immediate results.
I have been using the technique for a number of weeks now and can really say that it works, I have seen improvements in my driving and iron play that really excites me. In addition to better distance and accuracy the strike and trajectory are better too.
